Paul Waters

Born in Laurens, South Carolina on January 14, 1955, Paul Waters was blessed with Christian parents. His dad, Dr. John Waters was a pastor for fifty-plus years at Faith Baptist Church.

In 1977, Paul graduated from Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tennessee, was married to Mary Jane Cohee, an accomplished pianist, and became an assistant to his father at Faith Baptist as well as a Christian School teacher. Paul and Mary Jane served there in various ministry capacities until 1986 and three of their four children were born there -Shannon, Paul, Jr, Anna Marie.

It became apparent that God wanted to stretch them further so they moved to Burlington, NC and became involved in the ministry of Andrews Memorial Baptist Church, Andrews Memorial Readiness School, Deer Lake Camp and Alamance Christian Schools.

In July of 1994, Paul and Mary Jane were called to New Milford, Connecticut to assume the pastorate of the Bible Baptist Church. While there, Joshua, their fourth child was born in 1996.

In 1999, feeling an urgency to return to North or South Carolina to be near aging parents, Paul and Mary Jane Waters came to Myrtle Grove Baptist Church here in Wilmington and assumed duties as Senior Pastor and pianist, respectively. Within a year, Paul's dad, Dr. John Waters went home to be with the Lord reaffirming God's plan for them to return to the Carolinas.

Since 2000, the Waters have served here in Wilmington and are eager to continue sharing the Lord's grace with all. They feel blessed to be a part of such a fine group of serious believers.
